So-Cal Ponds has been anticipating the debut of this new and exciting reality tv show. No, not because we’re crazed reality tv show fans but because we actually took part in a piece of the set’s construction!
We had the opportunity to work with the The Pond Digger, a Southern California pond contractor and personal friend. They were asked to work on a portion of the set in Utopia, which they gladly accepted.
There is a large lake in Utopia which will not only act as a water source for the “pioneers” but will also be used for bathing, recreation and most importantly food. The lake is home to hundreds of bass, catfish, bluegill and a wide variety of aquatic plants, some of which are edible.
This is a great project and I am happy to say that So-Cal Ponds played a part in its completion. Having worked on this project makes the show that much more interesting.
We’d love for you to check out Utopia, which debuts on Sunday September 7th at 8pm on Fox, to catch a glimpse of the pond/lake.
If you’re at all interested in the premise of the show, the next few paragraphs come from the Utopia Website:
“Behold UTOPIA, a bold new series based on the hit Dutch program. Watch what happens as 14 pioneering Americans wave goodbye to the lives they’ve known, move to a remote location, and set out to create a society from scratch. They’ve got limited supplies, wildly diverse backgrounds, and zero bathrooms.
What could go wrong — besides everything?
The Utopians will make every decision about how they live and work. Will they choose democracy or dictatorship? Capitalism or socialism? Fidelity or free love? Which religion, if any, will prevail? Will they punish or forgive? Keep or share?
Are those chickens friends….or food? If not now, when?
It is all up to them.
This is not a game. There is no prize. This is UTOPIA: reality TV in its truest form.”
